Scripture: “And Samuel replied, ‘Speak, your servant is listening.’” — 1 Samuel 3:10

There are prayers God answers more quickly than others — and this is one of them. When Samuel prayed, “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening,” he wasn’t giving God instructions. He wasn’t bringing a list. He was offering availability.

It’s a bold prayer because it hands God the pen and says, “I’ll stop writing my story now. You write instead.”

We like prayers with predictable outcomes. “Bless me.” “Protect me.” “Help me pass the test.”

But “Speak, Lord” is a prayer that risks being changed.

The God who speaks doesn’t just comfort — He calls.

He convicts.

He directs.

He disrupts.

And yes — He always answers.

Application:

Today, don’t rush into prayer with your list. Begin with silence. One minute. No phone. No music. No words.

Just availability.

Then whisper: “Speak, Lord. I’m listening.”

Prayer:

Lord, I’m not here to talk first. I’m here to listen. I open my heart to Your voice. Amen.
