Don't Let it Sit

Scripture: Ephesians 4:26–27

Relational damage rarely explodes overnight — it usually drifts.

A comment goes unaddressed.

A misunderstanding gets ignored.

An awkward moment gets buried.

And slowly, quietly, distance grows.

Paul gives us a loving warning: don’t let anger linger. Not because emotions are sinful, but because unresolved emotions are dangerous. When we leave offense sitting too long, our minds start writing stories that may not even be true.

Silence fills the gaps with assumptions.

Distance feeds insecurity.

Time hardens what could have been healed.

This is the wisdom behind the Four-Day Principle: don’t let problems remain unresolved. It’s not about rushing emotional conversations before you’re ready. Cooling down is wise.

Avoidance is not.

Healthy relationships require courageous follow-through. Sometimes that looks like a simple message:

“Hey, can we talk this week?”

“I may need a day to process, but I don’t want distance between us.”

Small steps of intentionality keep small issues from becoming big fractures.

Today, ask yourself: Is there something I’ve been letting sit too long?

Don’t let it rot. Pursue peace while the door is still open.

Prayer:

Father, give me courage to address what I’ve been avoiding. Help me pursue peace quickly and guard my relationships from quiet drift. Amen.
