Don’t make it difficult

Scripture: “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.” – Acts 15:19
James’ words still ring true today: Don’t make it difficult for people to turn to God. The early church could have complicated things — demanding rituals, rules, and religious customs before someone could belong. But they realized something freeing: Jesus already did the heavy lifting.
When we add conditions to grace, we dilute the gospel. People shouldn’t have to clean up to come to Christ — they come to Christ, and He cleans them up. That’s why belonging in the family of God starts with an open invitation, not a moral checklist.
Sometimes we unknowingly make it difficult through our attitudes — with judgment, exclusion, or pride. But the heart of Jesus says, “Come to Me.” Every church, every believer, should echo that invitation: You belong here. God knows your heart. Grace is waiting.
Reflection: Are there ways you might be making it harder for others to approach Jesus?
Prayer: Lord, make my life an open door to You. Remove anything in me that makes it hard for others to see Your grace.
