Scripture: Romans 12:1 (ESV)
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
In light of all that God has done — in light of His mercy, His grace, His salvation — Paul gives us this charge: lay your life down. Not in death, but in daily living. You are called to be a living sacrifice — an offering not of goats or grain, but of your heart, mind, body, and soul.
This isn't just a poetic phrase. It’s a radical invitation to surrender your plans, your preferences, and even your pride. As Taylor Fendley said, this is not about a partial offering. It’s about total devotion. God doesn’t just want Sunday mornings — He wants Monday through Saturday, too. Your thoughts, emotions, energy, and time — offered daily as worship.
And this is not to earn grace, but in response to it. As Taylor reminded us, the first 11 chapters of Romans build the case that we are saved purely by God’s mercy. So in view of that mercy, the only logical response is to give Him everything.
What would it look like for you to live today as a sacrifice — not just singing to God, but living for God?
Prayer: Father, You have given me everything. In response to Your mercy, I give You my life. Help me offer myself today — my words, actions, and thoughts — as an act of worship. Amen.
