The Movement, Not a Monument

Scripture: “Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.” — Matthew 16:18 (NLT)

The first time Jesus used the word ekklesia, He wasn’t talking about a building. He was describing a movement — a Spirit-empowered people carrying the mission of God. The danger for us today is to treat church as a monument we visit instead of a movement we join.

The ekklesia is not confined to four walls. It is the living, breathing body of Christ, called to represent Him in every word, action, and tone. We don’t just gather around a place — we gather around a Person, the risen Jesus, and continue the movement He started.

Reflection: Am I treating my faith like a weekly monument or a daily movement?

Prayer:

Lord, remind me that I am part of a living movement, not just a building. Help me represent You in every word and action so that others may see Your love through me. Amen.
