"Where you go I will go…your God will be my God." -- Ruth 1:16

When Naomi urges Ruth to return to her people, Ruth stands firm. With stunning loyalty and unexpected faith, she declares her commitment not just to Naomi--but to Naomi's God. It's a line in the sand. A conversion moment. A brave and beautiful "yes."

This one decision changes everything.

Ruth turns her back on Moab--on comfort, predictability, cultural norms--and chooses a new life in a foreign land with a God she barely knows. Her choice doesn't guarantee comfort. She'll be poor, widowed, and vulnerable. But she trusts anyway. Her faith, though fragile, is real.

And in that one act of surrender, the entire course of history begins to shift.

Sometimes we think God's calling has to be dramatic. But often, it's just one step. One decision. One turn back toward Him. Ruth didn't have the full picture--she just had the next step. And that's all God asks of you.

Reflection:

  • Is there a decision I've been avoiding because I can't see the full outcome?

  • What would it look like to say "yes" to God in this moment, even without certainty?

  • What legacy could begin with just one step of obedience?

Prayer:

Lord, give me courage to say "yes" to You--even when the path ahead is unclear. Help me trust that one decision surrendered to You can lead to something far greater than I imagine. Thank You for Ruth's example. I want to follow You like that--with loyalty, faith, and courage. Amen.
