Worthy of Suffering

Scripture: “The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.” – Acts 5:41
The apostles had been flogged—whipped until their backs were torn apart. Yet, instead of despairing, they rejoiced. Why? Because their scars were proof that they belonged to Jesus. They saw suffering as a badge of honor, not a reason to give up.
Today, most of us don’t face persecution like the early church. Yet even small moments—being misunderstood, excluded, or mocked—can tempt us to go quiet about our faith. Bold belief reminds us that if following Jesus costs us something, it’s worth it. We share in His sufferings so we can also share in His glory.
Prayer: Jesus, give me courage to endure hardship for Your name. Help me rejoice when bold faith costs me something.
