Scripture:

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

Reflection:

One of the most painful feelings in life is abandonment. Maybe you’ve been there—betrayed by a friend, left by a spouse, ignored by a parent. That pain often runs deeper than physical wounds. But perhaps even more painful is the sense that God has abandoned you.

Jesus knows that feeling. As He hung on the cross, He cried out, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). He wasn’t quoting a polite prayer. The original Greek translates to a scream. Jesus felt alone. Rejected. Forsaken. And yet, this wasn’t the end of His story.

Likewise, in your darkest moments, God is still with you. He has not left. Feelings are real, but they are not always true. The truth is, if you belong to Christ, you are never alone. God’s presence does not depend on your mood or your faith level—it depends on His promise.

When it feels like no one sees you, remembers you, or cares, anchor your soul to God’s unchanging word: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”

Prayer:

Father, when my heart tells me I’m alone, remind me of Your truth. When I can’t feel You, help me trust that You are still near. Thank You for being faithful even when I waver. Amen.
