The Goal of Prayer is God Himself

Scripture: “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place.” — Exodus 33:15 (NLT)

When Moses interceded for Israel, he wasn’t satisfied with blessings alone. He wanted God’s presence above everything else. The same is true for us — prayer is not just about asking for gifts, but about enjoying the Giver.

Eugene Peterson once said, “True prayer is answering God.” It’s not a formula to get what we want; it’s a relationship that shapes us to want more of Him. The boldest prayer we can pray is not “God, bless me,” but “God, be with me.”

Reflection: Am I more interested in God’s blessings or His presence?

Prayer:

Father, I don’t just want Your gifts — I want You. Teach me to pray not for my will, but for Your presence. Transform me by Your Spirit as I walk with You daily. Amen.
